  1. What would you recommend if there are two dogs and they bark when want to get the same toy like one got the toy and another bark until he gets it?

  2. Jan Fennell’s work, which has been out in the world for almost 30 years now, outlines the true reasons for barking, and how to handle it. What this person is calling “no-reaction” is simply ignoring the behavior you don’t want and waiting for the behavior you DO want.
“The Dog Listener” is the best dog behavior book ever written. So much of the advice out there these days is based upon human projections. Dogs aren’t human. They are animals, centered on their survival instincts. “Corrections” are adversarial and unneeded, setting up distrust in the relationship. And, responding to your dog’s unwanted barking teaches them that it’s the best way to get your attention, and this is true whether or not the seem to respond when you offer a command. The fact that the barking doesn’t resolve and you must continue to use commands shows that the command is ineffective.

  3. how do you stop a dog from barking every time they run out into the yard? As soon as I open the door and she takes one step outside, she begins barking. she runs up and down the fence line barking at often times nothing. I’ve tried taking her out on a leash and that stops it, but I’ve done that for weeks on end and as soon as she’s off leash, she goes right back. I’ve tried going outside with her and distracting her with toys, but I can’t do that every time she goes out. PLUS if there are any dogs in the distance barking, forget about it!

  4. One of my dog barks when he sees me getting out of bed. Barks about anything i do. Ive tried everything. I’ve felt like he wants me to know what’s going on… his report. I’m aware of the change in the sound of his barks. I need him to stop barking when i tell him. How please?
