Doc, my dog lost a canine tooth . She lost many other teeth before i got her as well. The hole where the canine tooth was wont heal, the hole is too big i guess. So now its like a oral nasal fistula. Is the only option to get her a dental to sew up that hole and is it necessary? Thanks in advance.

Please add a disclaimer to this video. At-home scaling only cleans visible tooth surfaces — it does nothing for subgingival buildup, which is where periodontal disease actually progresses. It also skips polishing, so the roughened enamel from scaling can attract plaque faster afterward. Following this advice, my dog ended up needing 5 tooth extractions for an infection that home scaling masked rather than prevented. This kind of content needs a clear warning that it’s not a substitute for professional cleanings with anesthesia and dental X-rays.
